Decorating for a wedding reception can be easy when you use wedding candle centerpieces as part of the table decorations. Centerpieces can range from small and affordable to extravagant and costly depending on the theme of the wedding, your particular taste and the budget. Many pre-made centerpieces are extremely pricey, but do it yourself candle centerpieces can be made inexpensively and look just as lovely as custom made ones.
Overwhelm Not Overpower
Candles are one of the least expensive items you can purchase for making centerpieces and they provide a soft glow to the atmosphere of the reception. A centerpiece should complement the dcor of the wedding and reception, not overpower the setting. Even more importantly, they should not be in the way of your guests being able to socialize among themselves. It is possible to have elegant centerpieces that are smaller in stature.
Serving Trays Made Stunning
The combination of flowers and candles is always a striking look and there are hundreds of ways to incorporate the two together for making a beautiful centerpiece. Silver serving trays are the perfect size to use as a base. An idea for using serving trays is to place a large candle in the center of the tray, arrange silk or fresh flowers around the candle, tie a ribbon around the center of the candle, and attach smaller bows around the edge of the tray.
Inexpensive Clear Bowls
Glass bowls are very inexpensive and can be purchased at most department stores and craft shops. These are great to use for centerpieces because they come in many sizes and there are so many different options for decorating with them. One of the simplest, yet most elegant looks is to fill the bowl with water (clear or colored) and place a floating candle in the water. Another variation is to place a candle in the bowl and fill the bowl with colorful sand or rocks. Tie a ribbon around the lip of the bowl and place in the center of either a flower wreath or between two taper candles.
Simply Candles
One of the easiest centerpieces to make is one with only candles. Place a row of candles in the center of the tables that vary in height, starting with the shortest and ending with the tallest. On the adjoining table, do the opposite by going from largest to smallest. When the candles are lit, it provides a stunning effect and gives the room a romantic glow.
Candelabras
Purchasing large candelabras for each table at the reception can get very expensive. However, making your own will save you a great deal of money and you can create them to match any dcor or theme you have chosen for the wedding and reception. Wedding candle centerpieces that are created to look like candelabras can be made by using taper candle holders in varied sizes. Line them up with two of the same size on each side of a taller one. To make a circular candelabra, use four individual candle holders of the same size and one taller than the others. Space the four even candle holders approximately two inches apart in a circle and put the taller one in the center. Arrange silk flowers between and around the candle holders.
